Currently, we have rational method programs available for most Southern California counties. Over 150 engineering firms use CIVILCADD®/ CIVILDESIGN® hydrology/hydraulics software. The “C” programming language is used in these programs for rapid calculations and easy use.
The rational hydrology programs feature an interactive user interface, providing instant answers as study data is inputted, and easy corrections for the options selected. Because the program prompts and questions the user, very little learning is required to operate the software.
As will all of our software, the rational programs prepare input data files which can easily be corrected or changed for a different analysis.The rational programs have built-in hydraulics functions for design of streets, pipes (circular or elliptical), rectangular, trapezoidal, or box channels, overland flow (some counties), and irregular shaped channels with up to three flow lines.
These programs also include a street inlet and parallel street and pipe flow function which permits design and analysis of curb inlets using FHA DOT HEC12 criteria (also used by Caltrans). The programs then calculate both street and under-street pipe hydraulics.
All of our rational method programs include steady state flow hydraulics to automatically calculate pipe sizes and evaluate street flow depths and street inlet flow capacities.
