Joseph E. Bonadiman & Associates, Inc. at a Glance...

Joseph E. Bonadiman & Associates, Inc. has experience in virtually every aspect of civil, electrical, mechanical, environmental and energy engineering. The firm has developed plans for residential subdivisions, bridges, aerial tramways, dams and reservoirs, airports, mobile and modular homes, streets and storm drains, water and wastewater treatment facilities, and park and recreational development. The firm is recognized as have special talents in the field of hydrology and hydraulics, and acts as consultants not only to private engineering forms, but also to city, county, state and federal agencies.

Throughout the firm's history, surveying has been an intrinsic part of its services. It has completed large, challenging survey project throughout the west. Projects such as the complete surveying of Chavez Ravine in Los Angeles, the home of the Dodger's Baseball Team; 110 mile boundary survey of Edwards Air Force Base; ALTA surveys; boundary and topography surveys. Retracement of nineteenth century surveys at one end of the spectrum to GPS surveys show the complete range and flexibility that the firm's survey projects cover. Due to the firm's day-to-day survey activities, along with production of proprietary software for surveyors and the maintenance of that software, the firm has kept abreast of all modern survey techniques.

The firm has produced innovative designs for the entire spectrum of architectural endeavors ranging from single family residences, condominiums and planned-unit developments, recreation centers, multi-story office and commercial buildings, shopping centers, churches, city, county and federal buildings, to large industrial complexes, and the remodeling of buildings of historical significance. Designers carefully consider the adaptation of plans to the plans to the particular project's location and climate, available materials, and energy requirements. Working with the engineering department, the firm's architects have access to the latest information on energy management, systems, computer technology, and PERT-CPM.

Extensive experience has been gained in the field of planning. The firm has successfully developed master plans for entire residential communities and complex recreational projects. Land-use studies, environmental-impact reports, and zoning changes are also part of the firm's planning expertise. Specific plans have been designed for park, commercial, industrial, and residential properties. Since staff members are skilled in a variety of disciplines, planning sessions produce concepts that are practical from both engineering and economic standpoints.

Although the firm is engaged primarily in the fields of engineering and surveying, it has been active in construction for many years as licensed engineering and general contractors. Staff personnel, in close contact with all aspects of construction, are continually sought for inspection of building projects, both those designed in-house and by others. Our clients thus receive the benefit of construction experience as well as design proficiency, and are provided with the most practical and economically feasible plans possible. As an added service to clients, the firm maintains a construction management department which can supervise a project from inception to final inspection.

Often the firm serves a a special consultant to major insurance companies, legal firms, cities and counties, investigating, construction and engineering failures, from man-made and/or natural causes. Our principles frequently serve as expert witnesses in court.

The firm is equipped with the newest and most sophisticated computer equipment for plotting, calculating, and analysis, which performs equally well on earthwork, roads, hydrology/hydraulic studies, water systems analysis, project cost accounting, research date generation, three dimensional renderings, and a host of other services. Once planning and design concepts have been decided and the schematic hypothesis adopted, the labor of converting this criteria into working drawings, final maps, related calculations and reports is greatly reduced by the computer, saving time chargeable to clients and effecting overall cost efficiency of the project.

A person could conceivably go their whole life without ever requiring the services of an attorney, and could go through a whole life seldom even needing the services of a physician, but you use the services of a civil engineer from the time you rise in the morning to when you retire at night. When you get up in the morning and use the bathroom, you do so because a civil engineer designed the sewer system that allows you to use the water closet and the shower.

The same is true with the power transmission plant to deliver electricity, the roads you drive to get to your golf game, the airport that is necessary for the airplane that takes you on vacation, the railroads, and a litany of other necessities.
